What a Waste

My mom was telling me today about her job (she works retail) and how the new manager threw away a bunch of silverware in the garbage because certain pieces from the set were lost or stolen. A cop was passing by and told her why didn’t she just round them up and give them to charity organization like Camilla House or something instead of just tossing them. The manager lady said she wasn’t suppose to do that.

I remember something like this from before. A friend of mine who worked at Starbucks and at the end of the day they had to toss out all the food that didn’t sell and weren’t allowed to give them to the homeless or something.

I’m sure there’s some kind of liability somewhere that prompts these companies to do these things, but I think we can all agree that it really just sounds like a bunch of heartless corporate bullshit. I’m sure there’s people out there who would dive into a dumpster for that perfectly wrapped tuna salad Starbucks is throwing out. And I’m sure there’s someone at Camilla’s house who would be happy to receive a bunch of mismatched brand new silverware.

Let’s go Green. Let’s recycle. Yes. And let’s stop letting companies throw away perfectly good merchandise as well. That’s part of the landfill problem surely.

Fucking bullshit.

Post Dump:Obama, Colorado, Jase, Jon/Stephen, Ghost Hunters

Today is a happy Tuesday. First off of course is the inauguration of President Barack Obama. Now, I’ve never been as excited over this as everyone else seems to be, but I must admit a huge smile at the thought of NO MORE W. BUSH. That is so awesome for so many reasons. I’ve spent the last 8 years embarassed of my country’s political leader. Don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out George.

Obama pictures and McCain pictures

Happy Tuesday and all the random thoughts just spill out of my brain

Alumni of Electoral College

About the election… I was inclined for Obama (mostly cause of Sarah Palin), but honestly I was a Hillary supporter. The democrats won Florida but Florida still passed amendment 2 which outlawed rights of domestic partnerships. So this state going Democrat was kind of anticlimactic for me. In defense I will say the law was poorly written so maybe some people were confused, but I’m more inclined to believe the State is filled with bigoted assholes.

I’m also glad that Obama won the popular vote and I think that’s important. I can’t remember why the whole electoral college is there, but I think there’s something seriously wrong with the system. I think that it’s the electoral college’s fault people believe their votes don’t count.

as I live in Florida, it was pointless to vote
